History:
The YTB Propeller was a University of Washington Fisheries Department research boat from about 1965 until 1985 (then known as the RV Onar).
Ownership transferred to the Chief Seattle Council, BSA, in 1985, and she was immediately used as a Sea Scout program boat for Seattle Sea Scout Ship (Troop) 62 and named SSS Propeller. The name "Propeller" was given in honor of Ship 62's long-time chartered partner and sponsor, the Seattle Propeller Club.
In 2020, ownership of the boat was transferred to the Spirit of Propeller Inc. This allowed the use of the boat to expand to support programs outside of scouting while retaining a direct connection to the Sea Scout Program.

USES:
  • Sea Scouting Platform
  • Youth maritime training - maritime careers
  • Support of high school academic and vocational programs
  • Support vocational College programs

YTB Propeller is an inspected passenger vessel certified for up to 41 passengers.
