Vessel Repair, Maintenance, Upgrades:

Our hands-on maritime training program focuses on the 65 ft YTB Propeller and some small craft, including two skiffs and two rigid inflatable boats.  All are used in Sea Scouting and allied youth maritime programs.

We are presently in need of funding to support
the routine dry-docking and overhaul of the Propeller is planned for 2026-27.

To learn more, see the YTB Propeller Overhaul page.
Work planned includes:
- Hull and structural repairs, rehab, and painting.
- Main engine replacement
- Internal tanks and void rehab and repainting
- Bulwarks, caprail, and lifeline renewal and repair.

Volunteer Opportunities:
We always need people who can turn a wrench or sling a chipping hammer!
Are you ready to get dirty and really make a difference on the waterfront?
Considering volunteering to be part of our maintenance and upkeep team!
We try to list the dates of working parties on the Sea Scout Calendar.

  • Would you like to volunteer to help with projects?  Contact us!
  • Would you like to make a financial contribution - see the links below.

Scholarship Fund:
We provide program opportunities to any registered Sea Scout youth through our “Scholarship Fund”, regardless of their financial situation.

A 14-day summer "Long Cruise" aboard YTB Propeller is typically $600 per Scout. A great way to support the Sea Scout program is to provide a $600 Long Cruise Sponsorship!

If you wish to contribute to our Scholarship Fund, please make a note on the donation form below or contact us.

In-Kind Contributions?
We accept material contributions to support the upkeep and maintenance of our boat and dock. Contact us if you'd like the help!
  • Examples: Paint brushes, paint rollers, masking tape, serviceable tools, DELO 400 15W-40 engine oil, fuel/oil filters and related items, diesel fuel, mooring lines, navigation equipment, VHF radios, and just about any serviceable marine hardware that we can readily use or perhaps sell at a swap meet.
  • Paint: On an as needed basis. We have limited storage space for paint and solvents.
  • Services:  Accepted!  YTB Propeller is always in need of skilled hands to support upkeep, repairs.  If you can help, let's talk! (Help us clean bilges, tune or repair the CAT D343 main engine, steel/welding/painting and prep work).

Appreciation and receipts.
In all cases, we can provide a letter acknowledging, thanking you for your contribution.

Old Fuel Tanks?  We may be able to help you dispose of old diesel fuel or heating oil.
We have the ability to process heating oil and use it to fuel our boat.

Boats? Cars? RVs? Trailers?
In most instances, we are not able to accept boats, cars, RVs or trailers as donations.  We've had to dispose of several donated boats over the years at substantial cost in volunteer time and scarce funding. There are a few possible exceptions that we can discuss.
Contact us if there is an exceptional situation and we can have a conversation.

Poinsettia Fundraising

Our Annual Christmas Poinsettia Fundraiser for 2025 is now closed for this season.

This year, with your help, we raised over $8,500. These funds will
support our "Scholarship Fund", providing program assistance, payment of dues, and assistance with cruising expenses for our youth in need of financial assistance.

We wish to thank all who purchased our Poinsettias this season, and we hope you will consider supporting our program again next year.

100% of Poinsettia Fundraiser proceeds go toward our “Scholarship Fund” and are dedicated to the financial assistance of our youth members.
